Jane Ten

Bee Conservationist and Researcher

About

LearnBees was founded in 2021 by Jane Ten, an experienced bee conservationist and researcher. Jane has studied more than 100 different bee species, including carpenter bees, mason bees, honey bees, bumble bees, and more. Jane built this site to change the negative perception bees have as “aggressive, stinging bugs.” As such, she writes content like How to Deter Carpenter Bees Without Killing Them and How to Safely Repel Honey Bees from Hummingbird Feeders.

Jane is also an expert in educating people about bee threats, such as why to avoid harmful garden chemicals and which beekeeping practices harm honey bees.

Jane is currently working on her first book about the lives of native bees in North America. The expected publish date is July 2024.
